Five things Friday

I’m jumping on the five things Friday bandwagon.
Here goes:
1. This week is my vacation week at work. Hubby and I decided to take the kids to Minneapolis for a few days. We left early Monday morning and got back Thursday night. We checked out the Minnesota zoo and Nickelodeon Universe. It was definitely tough with two kids, and a challenge to keep them entertained and content. The heat and humidity didn’t make things easier. But it was a nice mini family vacation.
2. I dropped my phone in the car and it must have hit the edge of the cup holder at the wrong angle because the screen cracked and the phone no longer turns on ūüė¶¬† I really hope I can get it fixed just so that I can pull off all of my photos. Today I bought a new phone (using it right now) and it’s really nice but never fun to reinstall and personalize everything.
3. I was also sick the entire week. Still not 100% which is really frustrating. Trying to take it easy. Hoping to recover soon.
4. Back at Crossfit today after a week and it was a tough one. Especially since I didn’t eat enough today.¬† Back squats were really hard and the 2nd half of class was brutal,¬† to the point where I was feeling a little dizzy and almost thought I wouldn’t complete my workout. But I pushed through and finished.
5. This weekend will be full of work ūüė¶ but I don’t mind because I don’t want to be too overwhelmed when I’m back in the office on Monday.¬†

I’m feeling like I need a vacation from my vacation but with my workload I don’t think that will be happening any time soon.

Hope everyone is having a great July so far filled with sunny weather.

A hashbrowns-pizza-sushi kind of day

That’s exactly what yesterday was. It could have been worse. I could have gone back to the cafeteria for a second round of hashbrowns. But I stopped myself because I knew that I would’ve felt really bad afterwards. A personal sized mushroom pizza for lunch and sushi for dinner.
All in all not as bad as it could’ve been.¬† There were no desserts or sugary drinks, and no salty snacks. ¬†Then again, there wasn’t any exercise either. ¬†Following dinner, I got myself ready for bed and then powered up my work laptop and worked for a couple hours. ¬†But honestly after this week, no more working from home. ¬†I really dislike lugging my laptop home at the end of the work day.

October is just around the corner and my one month progress update will be coming out soon. ¬†Fingers crossed that I’ve got some good news!

Taco Tuesday and other bad eating habits..

There used to be a time in my life when I had tacos for lunch every Tuesday.  The fast food chain Taco Time had 99 cent tacos every Tuesday, and I would always have them with meat & cheese only, forget the veggies!  There was a time when I had a full breakfast every morning.  2 eggs scrambled, bacon/sausage, hash browns and toast.

It’s amazing how much I allowed myself to eat and how unhealthy my choices were. ¬†And yet I thought that limiting myself to 2 tacos instead of 3 was being health concious. ¬†And have multigrain toast without butter was being health concious. ¬†I can’t imagine eating that way again, I suspect it would make me feel tired and sluggish.

Today has been another hectic work day. ¬†Falling behind but there’s not much I can do…

If you see my calendar for the day, there’s just a small chunk of time where I wasn’t in meetings, where I was given the opportunity to eat lunch at my desk. ¬†I hate eating lunch at my desk and I hate the fact that it’s a beautiful day outside, summer is almost over, and yet I’m not able to go out and enjoy a walk. ¬†Then again, I accepted all the meetings and if I really wanted to go out for a walk, that could have been booked into my calendar. ¬†No one’s fault but my own ūüė¶

Head is pounding and it’s going to be a rough bus ride home. ¬†The plan is to rest for a bit once I’m at home but to hit the gym as soon as possible so that I can continue with the rest of my evening and spend the rest of my evening with the kids. ¬†And once the kiddies are in bed, I’m hoping I can do an hour of work, just so that my workload tomorrow is a little less hectic.
